The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken

Source of book: Library Stars: four 1/2 out of five Pages: 433 Publisher: Disney Hyperion Published date: December 18 2012 When Ruby woke up on her tenth birthday, something about her had changed. Something alarming enough to make her parents lock her in the garage and call the police. Something that gets her sent to Thurmond, a brutal government “rehabilitation camp.” She might have survived the mysterious disease that’s killed most of America’s children, but she and the others have emerged with something far worse: frightening abilities they cannot control. Now sixteen, Ruby is one of the dangerous ones. When the truth comes out, Ruby barely escapes Thurmond with her life. Now she’s on the run, desperate to find the one safe haven left for kids like her—East River. She joins a group of kids who escaped their own camp. Liam, their brave leader, is falling hard for Ruby. But no matter how much she aches for him, Ruby can’t risk getting close. Not after what happened to her parents. When they arrive at East River, nothing is as it seems, least of all its mysterious leader. But there are other forces at work, people who will stop at nothing to use Ruby in their fight against the government. Ruby will be faced with a terrible choice, one that may mean giving up her only chance at a life worth living ************************************************************************************** The Darkest Minds is a relatively new dystopian novel written in December.
Unlike other Dystopians "cough" Gone *Cough!!!* this book does not glorify that children are great and adults are evil, and even though it shows that, it doesn't say it..not really. I really loved this book. Ruby was such a well rounded character, but she didn't know/understand somethings which happened to her which I can get because she only has a fourth grade education.. There was one part of the book that I didn't like, when you read it you will see..actually two parts. the part near the end and the ending. the ending made me want to rip Alexandra Bracken amazingly intelligent head off! She is lucky there is another book coming out, or I would have died. Ruby's been through a lot despite her sixteen years of age, and she isn't whiny or hopelessly in love like most characters now a days. There was no insta-love either which was amazing because too many books have that and it pisses me off. You will cry and scream and swoon so be prepared!

The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot

Source of book: Bought
Publisher: Turtleback books
Date finished: May 10th, 2013
Stars: Five out of five running shoes

You've seen the movies. Every teenage girl has at one point or another, I mean its a classic! Well, not really.. but we can pretend. But did you know it started as a book? I sure as hell didn't until I saw it at my Library's annual book-sale. Its about a girl, named Amelia "Mia" who finds out that her father is actually the prince of Genovia, and that he doesn't just work there. Because of his cancer, he can't have anymore kids, making Mia the sole heir to the Genovian throne.
******************************************************************************************
All she ever wanted was for her best friend's brother to notice she was alive—and to pass freshman Algebra. But now that her dad's told her she's heir to the throne of the country of Genovia (and that her horrible Grandmere is going to be giving her princess lessons every day after school) Mia Thermopolis has enough problems to fill a lifetime of diaries....

OK. This book was so funny and adorable! I loved it so much and I am definitely going to buy every other book in the series and  read them all at once. But I noticed some differences between the book and the movie. Big ones. This is an example of "Hated the movie loved the book" except in this case its "Loved the movie loved the book even more"If you've seen the movies but haven't read the book, I implore you to do so!
Quotes:“What is the appropriate reply to make to a man who says he loves you?
Thank you. You are very kind.”

Easy by Tammara Webber

Source of book: Library
Date finished: 5/16/2013
Stars: 1 out of 5 running shoes
Pages: 310
Publisher: Berkly Trade

He watched her, but never knew her. Until thanks to a chance encounter, he became her savior…

The attraction between them was undeniable. Yet the past he’d worked so hard to overcome, and the future she’d put so much faith in, threatened to tear them apart.

Only together could they fight the pain and guilt, face the truth—and find the unexpected power of love.

A groundbreaking novel in the New Adult genre, Easy faces one girl's struggle to regain the trust she's lost, find the inner strength to fight back against an attacker, and accept the peace she finds in the arms of a secretive boy

 *******************************************************************************************
While the name of the book is Easy, I found this book hard to read. The book starts when Jacqueline, who is most likely in her third year or second year of college is almost raped but saved. She doesn't want to call the police or anything because he was her ex-boyfriends roommate. What? Why? What does this show to girls? That everyone who gets raped shouldn't call police because they will be saved by some mysterious, hot boy? Then she gets cornered by him again, and instead of screaming she says "Lets go to my room." as an attempt to run. How come, when she gets to the dorm hallway, she doesn't scream and yell "HELP! He tried to rape me!" Then she cries and moans about her ex Kennedy. THIS SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED YOUNG ADULT! She is like, 20! Young adult should be 13-18 year olds! and it should have sex in it! This book was so stupid, I didn't understand all of the hype! Also, another girl is raped, and even though throughout the book everyone is like "It wasn't your fault" Blah blah, I absolutely believe it is Jacqueline's fault for not saying anything sooner.

Jenna and Jonah's fauxmance

Fans of romance don't need to look any further than the fauxmance brewing between teen idols Charlie Tracker and Fielding Withers-known on their hit TV show as Jenna and Jonah, next-door neighbors flush with the excitement of first love. But it's their off-screen relationship that has helped cement their fame, as passionate fans follow their every PDA. They grace the covers of magazines week after week. Their fan club has chapters all over the country. The only problem is their off-screen romance is one big publicity stunt, and Charlie and Fielding can't stand to be in the same room. Still, it's a great gig, so even when the cameras stop rolling, the show must go on, and on, and on. . . . Until the pesky paparazzi blow their cover, and Charlie and Fielding must disappear to weather the media storm. It's not until they're far off the grid of the Hollywood circuit that they realize that there's more to each of them than shiny hair and a winning smile.
************************************************************
Jenna and Jonah's fauxmance...Or also known as the dumbest, horribly  written book I have ever read. Ever.
I stupidly impulsed bought this Ebook, due to the reviews that were very misleading. This was so juvenile and kiddy it made my eyes bleed.

The authors seem to hate people who are not vegetarian. "There will be an abundance of vegan treats for me and those who are similarly inclined, and plenty of dead animals in tube shape who enjoy that kind of thing."
Ok. Just because you are vegetarian, does not mean you bash people who aren't, and 17 year old boys who talk like that aren't in this century.

This is the problem with authors, they think they are writing like a teenager when they sound like a  kid or an adult. It just makes me so mad that authors that write like this even get published! There was also references to drugs and sex. The boy, Aaron, basically kept putting his finger to his mouth in which he said " was the universal sign to smoke weed" which I am pretty sure is not.

What were they thinking! . . I was almost done when I just slammed my kindle down.SO AWFUL!!!!!!! I don't have high hopes for the young adult genre because of crap books like this. I am pretty sure I could have written a better book that this crap.

I give no shoes to this at all. It doesn't even deserves a shoelace.

Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson

Taylor Edwards’ family might not be the closest-knit—everyone is a little too busy and overscheduled—but for the most part, they get along just fine. Then Taylor’s dad gets devastating news, and her parents decide that the family will spend one last summer all together at their old lake house in the Pocono Mountains.

Crammed into a place much smaller and more rustic than they are used to, they begin to get to know each other again. And Taylor discovers that the people she thought she had left behind haven’t actually gone anywhere. Her former best friend is still around, as is her first boyfriend…and he’s much cuter at seventeen than he was at twelve.

As the summer progresses and the Edwards become more of a family, they’re more aware than ever that they’re battling a ticking clock. Sometimes, though, there is just enough time to get a second chance—with family, with friends, and with love

My review
************************************************************************************

This  has got to be one of my favorite books of all time. Every thing felt so real. The emotions, the characters. Every word was a perfectly placed work of art. Taylor is used to running away from things, but one thing she can't out run is her father's dying wish to spend one last summer at the summer lake house they used to stay at every year up until Taylor was twelve. When she gets there, she tries to avoid her ex boyfriend/friend Henry, and her ex best friend, Lucy. At first, you don't know why they are mean to Taylor, but you find out why later on. The books shows flash backs from previous summers, and the story comes together beautifully. Taylor gets a job, and Lucy ends up working there too. At first she is an Ice queen, but then she warms up, and you get to love her. Henry was amazing too. You learn alot about him. There is enough drama/romance/heartbreak/loss/uncontrolableshakingsobbing to balance it all out. Prepare to bring the tissues!!!!!

For Darkness Shows the Stars

Generations ago, a genetic experiment gone wrong—the Reduction—decimated humanity, giving rise to a Luddite nobility who outlawed most technology.
Elliot North has always known her place in this world. Four years ago Elliot refused to run away with her childhood sweetheart, the servant Kai, choosing duty to her family’s estate over love. Since then the world has changed: a new class of Post-Reductionists is jumpstarting the wheel of progress, and Elliot’s estate is foundering, forcing her to rent land to the mysterious Cloud Fleet, a group of shipbuilders that includes renowned explorer Captain Malakai Wentforth—an almost unrecognizable Kai. And while Elliot wonders if this could be their second chance, Kai seems determined to show Elliot exactly what she gave up when she let him go.
But Elliot soon discovers her old friend carries a secret—one that could change their society . . . or bring it to its knees. And again, she’s faced with a choice: cling to what she’s been raised to believe, or cast her lot with the only boy she’s ever loved, even if she’s lost him forever.
Inspired by Jane Austen’s Persuasion, For Darkness Shows the Stars is a breathtaking romance about opening your mind to the future and your heart to the one person you know can break it.
**************MY REVIEW<3****************************************************

This book was so good. And her name is Elliot..how cool is that?
Elliot lives in a world with posts and reductionists. They are the result of an attempt by Gavin and Carlotta , two scientists who tried to be god, who tried to make humans better. The result was humans who were mute and who were forced to work on plantations with C.O.R who have normal qualities ( they can speak)
Elliot needs money, so when she gets a request from captain wentworth's fleet to rent her grandfathers boat right estate, she takes the chance. little does she know that Captain Malakai Wenthworth is her childhood love, Kai. The fleet comes with sun carts, and they show abilities that are too good to be true. The book contains letters to and from Elliot and Kai, which shows why Kai was mad at her. When Elliot was 14, she was forced to make the decision between love and all of the lifes on the plantation. This book was a sweet, Jane Austen esque read, and I absolutely adored all of the characters, even though some gave me the extreme urge to smack them.
